CREATIVE FIELD NOTES: Building In Public
First Person View Of Growing An Agency
Building In Public
What's good, everybody? I hope your week was full of life and love. As I've mentioned before, my goal is to continue inspiring and adding value to my readers.
There's something about 'building a business in public' that brings a level of transparency I really enjoy. You get to witness the highs, lows, and everything in between.
More founders are embracing this approach, moving away from the secrecy of the past. We're now in an era of starting from zero and showing the journey to success. A FPV(First Person View) of the process, success, and failures along the way.
I've been fortunate to experience success with Dormtainment, but starting a creative agency is a new challenge. Well, not entirely new—it's the same tool belt, just with a few different tools.
In another episode, I will dive into how business evolves and how Heye Frequency ACTUALLY started. Or maybe I’ll throw it up as a youtube video? IDK thinking out loud here. Anyway!
Here are a few field notes for you to munch on(I really don’t like how I think about Ice Spice when I say munch lol)
This week i have been playing in the program Milanote, which is basically a great place for you to create a mood board, pitch deck, storyboard, etc. I would highly recommend it cause it’s laid out pretty simple.
We are currently working on our Heye Frequency main page on social media. We wanted to keep our brand colors for this. So I just started playing around with different ideas to keep the page valuable and aesthetic at the same time.
Really just letting my creativity go where it pleases. I like what I started with. Will this be the final? Who knows. That’s the thing about starting a business. You have to experiment then implement then reflect after to see what needs to be changed if anything at all.
HEYE FREQUENCY SHOW SEASON 1 WRAPPED
We officially wrapped the first season of our newest podcast series the “Heye Frequency Show”. We tested a lot and seen where some improvements can be made of course.
This was our first time shooting in this style so a lot to learn but here are a few takeaways from season one.
When doing these shoots if you are looking to also get BTS content you need an extra day in order to capture JUST social content.
No matter how much prep always expect to adjust the time, because unplanned circumstances always show up.
Extra hands are always needed no matter if it’s small scale or large scale. Shout out to my boy Wuzgood for showing up. Check out his work(IG:@Wuzgood)
Even if you are good friends with your guest preparation is always key, knowing how the conversation will flow helps a lot.
It literally takes a team to be present and do their part. Our team is small now but efficient. In due time, it will grow.
Overall I’m really proud of how the first season went especially not really knowing what to expect. You have to take the leap and figure out everything on the way and thats what we did.

I am currently in Orlando meeting with a potential client for Heye Frequency to work with. It’s honestly hot AF, I was shooting something outside yesterday for five minutes and was DRENCHED with sweat. But it’s great doing what I love for so long & hopefully continuing to inspire and build with others. I will end this week’s creative field notes here but looking for to adding more of this in the future!
Stay Blessed!
