Expansive Thinking
It's only as hard as you make it
I was hanging with a friend when we started to talk about how the world has hindered our ability to really be good thinkers. To push past just the norm, and ask questions. It made me want to dive into Expansive thinking for a bit.
Expansive Thinking… It's about envisioning possibilities beyond your current circumstances and believing in your capacity to reach them. Let's explore how you can cultivate this mindset to transform your approach to challenges and opportunities.
1. Cultivate Focused Intention
Expansive thinking begins with a deliberate intent to grow and improve. By setting your mind towards continual improvement, you prepare yourself to embrace larger possibilities.
2. Welcome the Journey of Improvement
The willingness to get better is not just about achieving goals but also about the process of learning and growing. Understand that each step forward is a part of your expansive journey.
3. Distance Yourself from Excuses
To think expansively, you must first let go of excuses that hold you back. Challenge the validity of self-imposed limits and strive to surpass them.
4. Be Authentically You
Remember who you were when you first started your journey. Stay true to that authentic self the one who is not jaded by setbacks but is driven by original vision and passion.
It's easy to preemptively label challenges as 'hard' or 'impossible.' However, such language sets us up for failure before we even begin. Instead of saying, "I couldn’t do that," ask yourself, "Why not?" and "What’s holding me back?" This shift in language from disempowering to empowering can dramatically change our outcomes.
Once you decide to elevate your standards, you'll find that you no longer settle for less or waste time on things that do not contribute to your growth. This approach not only simplifies your life but also aligns it more closely with your ambitions.
Next time you face a challenge, before you decline, consider it as a potential growth opportunity. Ask yourself how long it might take, or see it as a fun challenge. Practice stepping out of your comfort zone and approach life with a "can-do" attitude.
Expansive thinking isn't just an idea; it's a transformative approach that encourages us to dream big and act accordingly. Let's challenge ourselves to adopt this mindset and see where it can take us this week!
Lets keep expanding together
