"Have"- The Harvest Season
Final Part of the series "Be,Do,Have"
We have gone through the first two parts of this series now with a better understanding of what this principle means.
Now we have reached the last portion, 'Have'. What does 'Have' mean? It means to possess, own, or hold.
This is a beautiful process because you get to watch the harvest come together from all the work you have done in the soil. Have you ever wondered why some things you have feel better than others? It's because certain things that you have worked for you care about way more. My grandfather started building onto my grandparents' home almost 50 years ago. So much work, sweat, and memories inside that home. Now we face the fact that we may have to move them out of that house and sell it. Of course, that's not the easiest for my grandparents because they worked so hard to have it and do right by it. When we finally possess something, there is a little ego that goes into it, and rightfully so.
When we finally have something, though, how long before the feeling of having it finally goes away? Everything always feels amazing at first, but how long does that "have" feeling last? I guess that depends on the gratitude for the thing we now own, which I think goes hand in hand with having. We have to have gratitude for it because if we don't, it feels as if the work was just work.
I remember back in 2021, my business partner and I were in Greece, super happy to be there. One night at dinner, we were talking about how in the next 2-3 years we were going to get paid to travel. Not sure how, not sure why, but we just felt it. Something about travel was calling to us, and we needed to answer it. Without knowing that we were about to practice the principle of "Be, Do, Have," we set out on that mission. First, we had to become the type of people who traveled more, so we did that, then we had to "Do," which was vlog all of our travel adventures. Then the "Have" came around October 2022 when a company reached out to us and offered us the opportunity to get paid to travel and do it with groups of people. We look back on what we said that night in Greece and smile as everything happened that we said. Not just because we said it but because we followed the Be, Do, Have principle.
Having is the place where our society today wants to start. Unfortunately, that mindset has gotten a lot of us into a place of instant gratification that is very toxic in its own way. The reason why 'Have' is last is because the why needs to connect to the 'Have' in order for the 'Have' to really be impactful. Just like farmers and the land, once you actually attain the harvest, you have to understand that it is for a season. I think this understanding is another crucial part of this puzzle. We like to think that the harvest season lasts forever. Oh no, the harvest season is just that, a season. Sometimes that season is short, sometimes it's long, but either way, it will come to an end, and we must start over. The great Jim Rohn said, "You plant a little harvest; you get a little harvest,"
which is true because life gives you what you deserve more times than it gives you what you want. When you get to the stage of "Having," make sure you do the right things with your harvest because in due time, a new season will be here. You can almost look at 'Be' & 'Do' as your winter season. It's going to feel cold and tough. But just know the earth follows a principle as well, it's been doing it since the beginning of time. That principle is the principle of the 4 seasons, so remember that spring ALWAYS follows the winter. So your 'Have' season is coming; how much you get from it is up to you and the work you put in during the 'Be' & the 'Do' time.
Having is very fun when you know what you have done to get there. I want you all to have, and have until you can't have anymore. I also want you to 'Be' exactly who you were meant to be. To 'Do' exactly what you were meant to do. This world is unforgiving sometimes. The economy is forever shifting and changing. You can stand faithful in the fact that these principles will never change. It's been like this. It's in every top athlete, business person, chef, mother, father, and your favorite leader. Having is the byproduct of being and doing. If you are in a place in your life where you feel stuck, I hope this series has shown you the order in which you have to go in order to have what you truly desire because I want that for anyone that supports me or reads my words. Please be who you are meant to be; the world needs you more than you know.
